The story
In 1956, Basque nationalist Jesús Galíndez disappears from his New York City apartment and is never heard from again. He had worked with the FBI and was close to publishing a book critical of Dominican dictator Trujillo. Thirty-two years later, graduate student Muriel Colber chooses Galíndez as the subject of her dissertation. Conducting research in Spain, she finds documentation scarce and travels to Santo Domingo. There, CIA agent Robards repeatedly attempts to obstruct her investigation. Whenever Muriel considers giving up, someone provides new information—often contradictory—drawing her further into the mystery surrounding Galíndez’s disappearance.
