Full plot (contains spoilers)
Ruth is a wealthy Spanish heiress who has been married to Michel for some time. She finds the monotony of everyday life hard to bear and wants a divorce, especially since she has met Paul, with whom she has fallen madly in love. Michel, who is still in love with his wife, initially seems to accept the affair. Ruth invites her new fiancé to her villa on the French Riviera. But from that point on, she begins to feel threatened: first, she loses control of her car and is nearly killed, then she comes close to dying while scuba diving. In the latter case, the tanks’ pressure gauge had been tampered with. It eventually emerges that Michel is conspiring against his wife in league with Paul and Danielle, his mistress. Realizing she is trapped in a criminal spiral that seems difficult to escape, Ruth manages to get rid of all three: first she kills her husband by poisoning him, then, through a clever ruse, she makes Danielle and Paul responsible for the murder. Having solved her problems, Ruth can start her life over.
