In a world where humanity survives in high-altitude settlements, a father must risk everything to find life-saving supplies for his son.
The story
Three years after mysterious predators called Reapers emerged from sinkholes and decimated 95% of humanity, survivors live in communities at high altitudes. Will, a single father in a Colorado refuge, struggles to care for his son Hunter, who suffers from a lung disease. When Will realizes he is running out of oxygen filters, he must decide whether to stay safe or venture into the dangerous lowlands. Despite warnings, Will convinces a scientist named Nina to accompany him to a nearby city to find supplies and a way to defeat the creatures that have forced humanity into hiding.

After the Reapers decimated humanity, survivors retreated to high-altitude 'safe' zones. Will, a father in a Colorado refuge, must travel to a lower-altitude city with a scientist named Nina to find oxygen filters for his son, Hunter. They travel through dangerous territory, eventually entering a mine where a Reaper attacks and kills their companion, Katie. They reach a city and find filters, but Nina insists on visiting her former lab at the Department of Energy to develop a weapon against the creatures. While she works on a cobalt/magnesium mixture to pierce the Reapers' armor, Will is separated from her during a pursuit. Nina successfully develops the weapon, and they eventually reunite. They discover the Reapers are not biological, but machines using alien technology. They return to their community and signal a victory, while the film ends with the appearance of three mysterious meteorites.
