An animated princess is thrust into the real world of New York City after a magical mishap.

The story

In the animated fairy tale kingdom of Andalasia, a young woman named Giselle dreams of finding her 'happily ever after.' When she and Prince Edward are about to be wed, a villainous queen named Narissa pushes Giselle into a well. This act transforms Giselle into a live-action version of herself and teleports her to the bustling streets of New York City. There, she encounters Robert Philip, a cynical divorce lawyer. While Robert is initially overwhelmed by Giselle's presence, he eventually takes her in to help her navigate the unfamiliar city, while Edward embarks on a desperate quest to find her in the real world.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In the animated kingdom of Andalasia, Prince Edward and the optimistic Giselle are set to marry until the villainous Queen Narissa pushes Giselle into a well, transforming her into a live-action human and transporting her to New York City. Edward and his companion Pip also enter the real world to find her. In New York, Giselle meets Robert Philip, a cynical divorce lawyer. While Robert initially finds her presence a burden, he helps her adjust to the city. Meanwhile, Narissa's servant Nathaniel attempts to sabotage Edward's search. Giselle and Robert eventually go on a date and attend a ball, where they share a dance. At the ball, Narissa appears and offers Giselle a poisoned apple to erase her memories of Robert. Giselle falls into a deep sleep. Edward and Robert eventually realize that only a true love's kiss can break the curse. Robert kisses Giselle, waking her up. Narissa transforms into a dragon and takes Robert hostage; Giselle defeats her and rescues Robert. The film ends with Edward and his companions returning to Andalasia, while Giselle starts a successful fashion business in New York with Robert and his daughter, Morgan.
