Endstation Rote Laterne (1960)

The story is set among human traffickers in Amsterdam. Numerous pretty girls from all over Europe come to the Dutch capital, hoping to make careers as dancers in this libertine metropolis. But Jan Fabrizius, the owner of a shady Amsterdam nightclub, has very different plans for the girls who want to perform at his establishment. Pretty blondes in particular, such as the very young Uschi Berger, are in high demand in Latin America. With Fabrizius’s help, the villainous trafficker van Laan ships them against their will to Havana, where they are to work in a brothel. The suicide of one of the girls who has been abducted turns Fabrizius and van Laan against each other. From then on, they fight dirty, and suddenly van Laan’s daughter, too, is on her way to the Cuban capital. But Interpol has long been on the traffickers’ trail. Inspector Martin Stelling intends to break up the trafficking ring and bring the unscrupulous gangsters to justice. He is assisted by reporter Verena Linkmann, who smells a sensational newspaper story in the case. She disguises herself as a dancer and puts herself in the criminals’ hands to discover the trafficking route and destination. Stelling and Verena fall in love while working together. When Verena ends up in a brothel in Havana, she is in extreme danger. At the last moment, Stelling intervenes and rescues both his new love and Irene from the villains.
