An ambitious journalist enters a dangerous world of prostitution to expose the lives of the women trapped within it.
The story
Ambitious young journalist Silvana Orth sets out to report on the realities of prostitution. She visits the districts where the women work, hoping to interview them and bring their lives to light. Many have been lured by promises of true love and then forced into prostitution by ruthless pimps. To blend in and make her reporting more authentic, Silvana adopts the appearance of a prostitute and ventures into the big city’s dens of vice. Her inquiry draws her into conflict with the women’s rivals and the pimps who control them, putting her in serious danger as she attempts to uncover the truth.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Silvana Orth is an ambitious young journalist who is determined to learn about the realities of prostitution. So she heads to the districts in question to interview the “angels of sin” and shed light on their lives. Many of the prostitutes lead wretched lives. Once, believing they would find true love, they fell into the hands of merciless pimps who forced them into prostitution. Silvana takes great risks to make her report as authentic as possible. She puts on makeup like a prostitute and also equips herself with the revealing clothes and shoes, so she won’t stand out among the women in the trade. She ventures into the big city’s dens of vice, but her encounters with her rivals and their quick-witted pimps bring her serious trouble. Her report has landed Silvana in a hornet’s nest of slavery and crime. And the gangsters led by the slick Mecky Krüger, who control the women and are happy to have their heavy, known as “the Blonde,” dish out a beating, are not to be trifled with. The journalist only narrowly escapes being murdered. When her temporary colleague, Renate, wants to quit, she is killed in an assassination attempt staged to look like a car accident. Ingrid, meanwhile, who is not yet 18, is saved only by the love of an honest young man named Christian, a simple but kind-hearted refinery worker. Silvana eventually finds her most important supporter in Rosmann.
