The story
Enola Holmes is the youngest child in the Holmes family, and she is extremely intelligent, observant, and insightful. On her sixteenth birthday, Enola wakes to find that her mother, Eudoria, has disappeared, leaving behind only some gifts. A week later, she meets her older brothers Mycroft and Sherlock. While Mycroft intends to send her to a finishing school, Enola decides to travel to London to find her mother. Along the way, she pairs up with a runaway lord as they attempt to solve a mystery that threatens the country.

Enola Holmes is the youngest child in the Holmes family, and she is extremely intelligent, observant, and insightful. Her mother Eudoria taught her to be strong-willed and independent. On her sixteenth birthday, Enola finds her mother has disappeared. She later meets her brothers, Mycroft and Sherlock. Mycroft, her legal guardian, wants to send her to a finishing school, but Enola uses clues left by her mother to escape and travel to London. On a train, she finds the young Viscount Tewkesbury and they flee from a man named Linthorn. In London, Enola follows cryptic clues and discovers her mother is part of a radical group of suffragettes. After being attacked by Linthorn, she eventually finds Tewkesbury and takes him to safety. She is eventually caught by Mycroft's men and forced into the school, but she and Tewkesbury escape together. They eventually reach Basilwether Hall, where Enola defeats Linthorn and discovers his employer, the Dowager, was trying to stop Tewkesbury from taking his place in the House of Lords. After a reunion with her mother, Eudoria, Enola realizes her purpose is to be a detective and a finder of lost souls.
