A Hollywood actor's directorial debut goes over budget, forcing his high-powered agent to scramble for more investment.

The story

Just nine days after the finale of the HBO series, actor Vincent Chase separates from his wife and seeks a new career move. He accepts a leading role in a studio production from his former agent-turned-studio head, Ari Gold, on the condition that he also directs. However, during post-production, the film 'Hyde' becomes over budget by $15 million. To secure the necessary funding, Ari must travel to meet with the film's co-financiers, Larsen McCredle and his son Travis, who are hesitant to invest more money into the project.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Following the series finale, Vincent Chase is offered a starring and directing role by Ari Gold. During the production of his debut film 'Hyde,' the project exceeds its budget by $15 million. Ari travels to Texas to lobby co-financier Larsen McCredle, whose son Travis accompanies him to view a rough cut. Travis demands the removal of scenes featuring Vincent's brother, Johnny 'Drama' Chase, and eventually threatens to pull funding entirely, demanding the movie be redone with a new lead. The conflict escalates when Travis discovers Vincent is secretly dating Emily Ratajkowski. Ari manages to secure the funding but is forced to resign from the studio. Meanwhile, E's ex-fiancée Sloan gives birth to a daughter, leading to their reconciliation. Despite the production turmoil, 'Hyde' becomes a massive box office success. At the Golden Globes, Drama wins Best Supporting Actor and celebrates with his signature 'VICTORY!' shout. The film concludes with a mid-credits scene where Ari gives his former assistant Lloyd away at his wedding, and Billy Walsh suggests making a new project about the group's lives.
