The story

Egypt, 2013: after President Mohamed Morsi is overthrown by the army, demonstrations supporting him and the Muslim Brotherhood are suppressed by police. Inside a police van, people from across the political spectrum are detained for a day. Some support the police but have been arrested by mistake; others are members or sympathizers of the Muslim Brotherhood. Confined together, the detainees confront tensions and clashes as their differing positions and personalities emerge.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Egypt, 2013. Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood who had been democratically elected a year earlier (after the 2011 Arab Spring revolution), is overthrown by the army the day after a massive demonstration against his rule and the Muslim Brotherhood. The film takes place during counter-demonstrations in support of the ousted president and the Muslim Brotherhood, which are being suppressed by the police. The action unfolds inside a police van, where citizens from across the political spectrum are detained for a day: citizens who support the police but were arrested by mistake, and members or sympathizers of the Muslim Brotherhood. Violent clashes take place within this confined space (hence the film’s title), gradually revealing personalities that are less caricatured.
