After a misunderstanding about his German pen pal's gender, a young man and his friends embark on a chaotic journey across Europe to find her.
The story
Following his high school graduation in Ohio, Scotty Thomas is dumped by his girlfriend and discovers a misunderstanding regarding his German pen pal, Mieke. Believing she is a girl and wanting to apologize for his previous assumptions, Scotty decides to travel across Europe with his best friend, Cooper. They are joined by Scotty's friends, the twins Jenny and Jamie. The group travels through several countries, including England, France, and the Netherlands, encountering a variety of absurd and embarrassing situations as they navigate the continent in search of Mieke.

After being dumped by his girlfriend Fiona, Scotty Thomas travels to Europe with his friend Cooper to find his German pen pal, Mieke. They meet the twins Jenny and Jamie in Paris. The group travels through Amsterdam, where they lose their belongings, and ends up in Bratislava. They eventually learn Mieke is in Rome. In Rome, they enter the Vatican where Scotty is mistaken for the Pope. They eventually find Mieke in a confessional booth and have sex before she leaves. Later, it is revealed that Mieke and Scotty are assigned to the same dorm room at his college, where they reunite.
