The story

In the fall of 1980, college freshman Jake Bradford, a talented high school pitcher, moves into an off-campus house with his teammates. While the coach establishes rules against alcohol and women upstairs, the team quickly disregards them. The film captures the camaraderie and antics of the team as they navigate their first semester of college life.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In the fall of 1980, college freshman Jake Bradford moves into an off-campus house with his teammates, including his roommate Billy "Beuter." The team spends their time cruising for women, with some members striking out while others, like Jake, make connections. After a drunken party where the team ignores the coach's rules, the group visits a local disco and a western-themed bar. Jake eventually meets Beverly, a performing arts major, and they begin to see each other. The team also interacts with a punk subculture and a 30-year-old student named Willoughby who is fraudulently transferring colleges to keep playing ball. Jake and his friends eventually attend a costume party thrown by performing arts students, where Jake and Beverly spend the night together. The semester begins with Jake and Beverly walking to class together, while the team settles into their new lives as college students.
