In a world ravaged by a zombie virus, three survivors must navigate a fractured past and a dangerous present where the infected have evolved to hunt by sound.

The story

After a virus transforms the population into zombies, a small group of survivors seeks refuge in a snow-covered town, believing the threat has perished. However, they soon discover that the infected have adapted to the harsh environment in terrifying ways. The story follows Jack, Patrick, and a young girl named Lu as they navigate the dangers of the wasteland. While trying to reach a safe zone, the group faces internal tensions regarding their history and the external threat of a blind, sound-sensitive zombie race that stalks the frozen landscape.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Following a viral outbreak, survivors on two buses are attacked by zombies. Jack, Patrick, and a baby named Lu escape, but the group's companion, Emma, is bitten. Nine years later, Jack and Patrick live in adjacent houses, separated by a fence and a history of animosity. Lu lives with Jack, who raised her after Patrick, an alcoholic, failed to protect Emma. The status quo is shattered when Patrick encounters an infected creature and is bitten. During a subsequent confrontation, the group discovers they are immune to the virus despite being bitten, and that the zombies have evolved to be blind but possess enhanced hearing. Lu invites Patrick over, leading to a tense reunion where the truth of their past is revealed. They rescue a pregnant woman and attempt to fortify their home. When a large horde of infected attacks, the woman uses music to temporarily stun them. In a final act of sacrifice, Patrick lures the horde away with a flare and explosives, allowing Jack, Lu, and the woman to escape into the sunrise.
