The film is structured as a triptych. In 'Father', Jeff and Emily visit their reclusive father in the U.S.; while Emily suspects his financial state, the father hides his wealth, only to reveal his true status by driving a pristine car to a dinner after they leave. In 'Mother', in Dublin, an elderly writer meets her daughters, Timothea and Lilith. The sisters hide their true financial statuses, both claiming to own 'fake' Rolexes. In 'Sister Brother', siblings Skye and Billy navigate their parents' death in Paris, finding old photos and a fake marriage certificate in their apartment while being visited by their landlord.
