A group of high school students faces a deadly threat from a masked killer on the night of their senior prom.
The story
Set in 1988, the story follows the students of Shadyside High School as they prepare for their senior prom. Amidst the local tension and the school's poor reputation, a mysterious masked killer begins targeting the prom queen candidates. Among the candidates is Lori Granger, an outcast who faces off against the popular 'Wolfpack' girls. As the night of the dance arrives, the atmosphere turns deadly, and the students must navigate a series of violent encounters while trying to survive the night.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
On May 23, 1988, Lori Granger, an outcast, enters the prom queen race against the 'Wolfpack' girls. The night before, a candidate is killed by a masked assailant. During the prom, several students are murdered by the assailant, who is revealed to be Dan Falconer, the father of the popular girl Tiffany. Lori eventually faces off against the assailant and discovers there are two killers. After a confrontation in the school, Lori and her friend Megan escape to the gymnasium. While Lori is crowned prom queen, the assailant is unmasked as Dan. However, the second killer is revealed to be Tiffany's mother, Nancy Falconer. Nancy reveals she killed Lori's father. In a final confrontation, Lori defeats Nancy, and as Nancy dies, her blood forms the Witch's Mark.
