Fekete pont (2024)

Children fainting and endless speeches at the solemn opening of the school year. The characteristic smell of creamed vegetables and bleach-scented mop water in the cafeteria. Ten-year-old Palkó, recently moved back from Berlin, watches in amazement as everyday life unfolds at a Budapest housing-estate primary school. The only person who truly understands him is Juci néni, a novice teacher who is also a victim of the institution’s order-obsessed, authoritarian system, stuck in a caretaker mentality. Fekete pont, which at times veers into the grotesque and carries on in the tradition of Örkény, was made as an independent production through the collaboration of several Hungarian producers.
