Berlin. After Felix, Sophie, Lena, and Nicolas fail to find a piece of the Nefertiti puzzle, their father decides to take them to Berlin’s Neues Museum. Felix meets Dr. Snork, an eccentric scientist who invents a time machine capable of traveling virtually into the past and future. Felix gets into the transport capsule to test it, but because Dr. Snork is distracted, he is sent into the past along with Gertrude the sea turtle and Wolly the mammoth, who live at the museum and were brought to life while Dr. Snork was trying to get his time machine to work. Felix has a great adventure in the Stone Age, where he meets Uma, daughter of the chief of the Homo habilis tribe. Her mother is trying to obtain a mammoth fur. Uma’s tribe is in conflict with some saber-toothed tigers, and Felix resolves the matter by helping them discover fire. The three then find themselves in Ancient Egypt and meet Nefertiti, who wants to make them her slaves. But with the help of Olabisi, Nefertiti’s handmaid, they manage to escape. Wolly decides to stay in Egypt, while Gertrude leaves down the Nile. Felix, meanwhile, finds himself among the ancient Vikings of Erik the Red and meets Erik’s son, Leif Erikson, who offers to take him home even though his father objects, saying it is too dangerous. Felix faces a storm, but a group of whales helps them survive and save Erik’s crew as well. Together with Lori, they come ashore in America, on the island of Newfoundland. Meanwhile, Gertrude falls in love with Herbert, and the two brood over their eggs. Felix finds himself in the time of the Native Americans, where he meets Sheky, called “Trembling Leaf,” a member of the Pawnee tribe who is repeatedly harassed by Black Crow and Yellow Dog, members of the Sioux tribe. Sheky is captured by them, but with the help of a beaver and a bison, Felix manages to free him and escape. He then meets Gertrude again, and together they decide to explore the ocean before her eggs hatch. After helping her hide her eggs from the crabs, Felix returns to Ancient Egypt, thanks to the magic of the scarab pendant Olabisi gave him when she helped them escape. There he discovers that he is wanted and must save Wolly, who has been buried alive in the pyramid. Felix is captured by Nefertiti and taken to the dungeons, where he meets a hippopotamus named Hippo and a crane named Marabuti. During the night, Olabisi helps him escape, freeing Wolly as well. The two find themselves in the Middle Ages, where Matilda, a princess of the kingdom and the king’s granddaughter, wants to become a knight and is promised in marriage to Sir Gild De Brutus, who wants to become king at any cost. Sir Gild has to face Matilda’s father, and during the duel he discovers that it is not Matilda’s father in the armor, but Matilda herself. With Wolly’s help, she manages to defeat Sir Gild by throwing him into the castle moat. The journey ends, and Felix returns home to Sophie, while Wolly remains as a museum attraction.
