The story
Imprisoned Iranian human rights activist Maryam is granted a seven-day furlough after suffering a heart attack, giving her time to see her doctor and rest. She could use the opportunity to flee to her family in Germany, but escaping would mean she could no longer continue her struggle for equality and democracy in Iran. While Maryam faces this choice, her husband Behnam tries to keep their two teenagers’ memories of their mother alive until they can be reunited. The children are deeply hurt, complicating his efforts. Meanwhile, Maryam begins a dangerous journey across borders and through the mountains.
