A group of loggers in the Arizona wilderness encounter a mysterious light, leading to a harrowing ordeal for one of their own.

The story

Set in 1975, the film follows a group of loggers working in the forests of northern Arizona. While traveling through the woods at night, the crew encounters an unearthly red light and an unidentified flying object. One member, Travis Walton, ventures closer to investigate and is struck by a beam of light, causing the others to flee in terror. Walton disappears, and the remaining loggers face skepticism and social isolation from their community while trying to prove their account of the incident. When Walton eventually resurfaces five days later, he is severely traumatized and claims to have been abducted by extraterrestrials.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

On November 5, 1975, in Snowflake, Arizona, logger Travis Walton and five co-workers encounter an unidentified flying object in the White Mountains. Walton is struck by a beam of light and disappears. The remaining loggers are treated with suspicion by local authorities and become social outcasts. Five days later, Walton is found at a gas station, alive but traumatized and claiming he was abducted by aliens. The film depicts his harrowing experience in a zero-gravity environment where he is subjected to a torturous medical experiment by extraterrestrial beings. While local authorities dismiss his claims as a hoax, the film concludes with a reconciliation between Walton and his former colleagues, and a note that they passed subsequent polygraph tests confirming their innocence.
