Full plot (contains spoilers)
Professor Philip Brainard creates 'Flubber,' a sentient green goo with enormous elasticity, while trying to save Medfield College from closure. After missing his wedding to Sara Jean Reynolds for the third time due to his research, Brainard seeks to win her back. He uses Flubber to help the school's basketball team win against rival Rutland College and to make his vintage Ford Thunderbird fly. However, the wealthy sponsor Chester Hoenicker discovers Flubber's profitable potential and tries to seize it. After a series of adventures involving his robot assistant Weebo, Brainard and Sara refuse to sell Flubber to Hoenicker. They instead strike a deal with the Ford Motor Company. After Hoenicker's henchmen steal Flubber and destroy Weebo, Brainard and Sara confront Hoenicker, unleash Flubber to defeat him and his partner Wilson, and ultimately save the college. The film ends with the couple having a successful wedding and embarking on a honeymoon in the flying Thunderbird.
