The story
Roddy St. James is a pampered pet rat living in a luxury Kensington flat. When a local sewer rat named Sid enters his home, a series of events leads to Roddy being flushed down the drain. He finds himself in Ratropolis, a sprawling underground city made of junk. To navigate this strange new world and find a way back to his owner's home, Roddy must strike a deal with Rita Malone, a tough and resourceful scavenger who operates in the sewers. Together, they must navigate the dangers of the underground while dealing with the ambitions of a villainous toad who seeks to rule the rodent population.

After being flushed into the sewers by Sid, Roddy St. James discovers the city of Ratropolis. He meets Rita Malone, a scavenger who agrees to help him return to his Kensington home in exchange for a real ruby. They are pursued by the Toad, a villainous toad who wants to eliminate the rat population to make room for his offspring. The plot involves a series of misunderstandings, including a dispute over a ruby and a deal involving Rita's family. The Toad's backstory reveals he was once a pet of Prince Charles. Ultimately, Roddy and Rita must work together to stop the Toad from opening the floodgates during a major event. They succeed by trapping the Toad and his henchmen, and Roddy chooses to stay in Ratropolis with Rita and her family.
