A man's perception of reality is challenged after a head injury while trying to save his family.

The story

After a tense argument during a road trip, Ray Monroe's daughter falls into a pit at a gas station. Ray sustains a head injury while attempting to rescue her. When he and his wife, Joanne, arrive at a nearby hospital to treat the girl's injuries, Ray's perception of reality begins to fracture. After falling into a daze, he finds himself in a confusing medical environment where the staff claims they have no record of his wife or daughter ever being there, leading him to question what is actually happening.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

While traveling home from a visit, Ray Monroe's daughter Peri falls into a pit at a gas station, and Ray sustains a head injury while rescuing her. At a nearby hospital, Ray is told by staff that they have no record of his wife or daughter. As he struggles against security and police, he discovers a bloodstained pit at the gas station and eventually reaches the hospital's basement. There, he finds Peri about to have her organs harvested and rescues her along with a drugged Joanne, shooting a doctor in the process. As they flee, it is revealed that his family actually died in the pit—Peri from the fall and Joanne after being pushed onto a spike by Ray. Their bodies were in the back of the car the entire time; the hospital events were a hallucination caused by Ray's brain trying to process the trauma of the accident.
