A man claims his brother is a serial killer, but the truth of their family's religious devotion is far more disturbing.

The story

Fenton Meiks visits FBI Agent Wesley Doyle in Dallas, claiming his brother Adam is responsible for a series of 'God's Hand' killings. Fenton asserts that Adam committed suicide and was buried in their hometown of Thurman, Texas. Skeptical of the story, Doyle investigates and discovers Fenton stole the body earlier that day. As Fenton recounts their childhood in 1979, he describes a father who believed he was tasked by an angel to destroy demons disguised as humans. The narrative explores the brothers' involvement in their father's violent mission and the psychological toll of their upbringing.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Fenton Meiks tells FBI Agent Wesley Doyle that his brother Adam is the 'God's Hand' serial killer. Doyle discovers Fenton stole Adam's body from a rose garden in Thurman, Texas. Fenton recounts their 1979 childhood, where their father, Meiks, believed an angel commanded them to kill 'demons' in human form. Meiks began murdering people from a list, making the boys help bury the bodies. While Fenton was horrified, Adam believed the visions. Meiks eventually told Fenton he was a demon and locked him in a cellar for a week. After a mental breakdown, Fenton claimed to see God. During a final abduction, Fenton struck Meiks with an axe, and Adam killed the victim. In the present, the adult 'Fenton' reveals he is actually Adam. The real Fenton had become the actual 'God's Hand' killer. Adam reveals he shared his father's visions and that all victims were guilty of crimes. He then reveals Doyle was on the original list and kills him, burying him in the garden. Adam is revealed to be the sheriff of Thurman, continuing his father's work.
