A woman discovers she is the daughter of the legendary nightmare killer Freddy Krueger and must enter his mind to destroy him forever.

The story

Set ten years in the future, Freddy Krueger has returned to Springwood, Ohio, killing nearly every child and teenager. The only survivor, John Doe, is confronted by Freddy in a dream but wakes up with amnesia. The police take him to a shelter for troubled youth, where he meets three residents planning to run away. A doctor, Maggie Burroughs, notices a newspaper clipping in John's pocket and plans a road trip to Springwood to cure his memory loss. However, the group's attempt to flee is interrupted when John suffers a hallucination, leading them toward the infamous 1428 Elm Street house.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Ten years after the events of the previous film, Freddy Krueger has decimated the youth of Springwood, Ohio. John Doe, the sole survivor, is found by police and taken to a shelter where he is treated by Dr. Maggie Burroughs. While attempting to treat John's amnesia, the group travels to Springwood. During the journey, three residents—Spencer, Carlos, and Tracy—stow away and end up at the abandoned 1428 Elm Street house. There, Carlos and Spencer are killed by Freddy in their sleep, while Tracy is nearly killed but saved by Maggie. John, who entered the dream world with Tracy, is told by Freddy that his child is a girl; as John dies, he reveals this to Maggie. Back at the shelter, Maggie discovers her adoption papers and realizes she is Freddy's daughter, Katherine Krueger. With the help of a man named Doc, who can control his dreams, Maggie learns that Freddy can be killed if pulled into the real world. Using 3D glasses to enter Freddy's mind, Maggie learns of his tragic past of abuse and murder. She successfully pulls Freddy into the real world, where they engage in hand-to-hand combat. Enraged by his history, Maggie pins him to a wall and stabs him with his own clawed glove before finishing him off with a pipe bomb. The dream demons fly out of his body, and Freddy is finally defeated.
