Full plot (contains spoilers)
Sixteen-year-old Sebastian grows up in the sheltered idyll of a small town, surrounded by woods, country lanes, and an unrelentingly humid summer. His life follows the familiar routines of a teenager: studying, drinking beer with friends by the lake, and dreaming of a future together with his new girlfriend, Sarah. But Sebastian’s idyllic world begins to wobble when his family takes in fifteen-year-old Kolja. At first, the two boys are strangers to each other, but little by little they open up to one another—until they discover that they are biological brothers. As their relationship grows increasingly intense, they develop not only a profound bond of kindred spirits, but also the first stirrings of genuine love. This forbidden closeness turns Sebastian’s life completely upside down. When their secret, incestuous relationship comes to light, the family is cast out of the small town’s social fabric and confronted with the limits of social norms. An emotional roller coaster ensues.
