A traumatized teenager in a halfway house must face his fears when a new masked killer begins a violent spree.
The story
Five years after killing mass murderer Jason Voorhees, a teenage Tommy Jarvis is tormented by nightmares of him, resulting in his internment in numerous psychiatric hospitals. He is eventually transferred to the Pinehurst Halfway House, managed by Dr. Matt Letter and his assistant Pam Roberts. There, Tommy meets a circle of other teens. The group is disliked by their foul-mouthed neighbor, Ethel, as Eddie and Tina habitually engage in sexual intercourse on her property. For this reason, Matt forbids the group from venturing outside the facility's premises. However, a violent-tempered patient named Vic brutally kills another resident, and a series of murders begins nearby.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Five years after killing Jason Voorhees, Tommy Jarvis is institutionalized at Pinehurst Halfway House. While there, he meets other teens like Eddie, Tina, Jake, Violet, Robin, Joey, and Reggie. After Vic kills Joey with an axe, a series of murders occurs nearby, leading Sheriff Cal Tucker to suspect Jason Voorhees has returned. Eddie and Tina are killed in the forest while smoking cannabis. Pam and Reggie go to find Tommy, while Demon and his girlfriend are slaughtered. After several more deaths, including Ethel and Junior, Pam finds Tommy's room containing corpses. Jason Voorhees (actually Roy Burns, a paramedic who went insane after his son Joey's death) attacks the house. After a chase, Jason is struck by a tractor and lured into a barn. Tommy regains consciousness and kills Jason by cutting off his hand, causing him to fall onto a tractor harrow. In a final hallucination, Tommy faces his fears and makes Jason disappear, then appears behind Pam wearing Roy's hockey mask.
