Frühling - Eine Handvoll Zeit (2023)

Katja and Tom have arranged to go hiking in the mountains with Leslie and her new partner, Ali. Leslie wants Katja and Tom to get to know Ali better. Katja and Tom, meanwhile, would rather spend their day off in bed—but the date takes precedence. When they meet at the valley station, Leslie admits that she is afraid of heights, but is full of enthusiasm and boards the cable car with social-media couple Alexandra and Philipp May and single woman Luise König. The car is supposed to take them up the mountain. At the same time, Pastor Sonnleitner is called to the Sonnenglück retirement home because resident Marga Stein is nearing the end of her life and wants the pastor to give her the last rites. The old woman has a cat named Fipsi, but it has run away at just this moment. Lilly, meanwhile, is certain she found this very cat in a tree that morning and had the fire brigade bring it down. Shortly before reaching the mountain station, the cable car comes to an unscheduled stop—in fact, it is stuck, and there is no prospect of it moving again any time soon. A storm is rolling in, and the seven have to spend the night in the cable car, as the weather prevents the rescuers from reaching them. In the cramped car, among the frightened and agitated passengers, a very particular dynamic develops, leading to emotional revelations. Pastor Sonnleitner learns from Marga that she has a stepdaughter whom she has not seen since her husband died. Until then, Marga had received no visitors at all at the retirement home. Luise König, the stepdaughter, is in the cable car, and at Marga’s request the pastor contacts her. Luise sees no reason to get in touch with her hated stepmother, but later changes her mind after talking with Katja. The next day, Luise and Marga get another chance to see each other and make peace. Luise takes the cat in.
