Full plot (contains spoilers)
The film focuses, from 1938 to 1945, on the relationship between Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels, the latter being responsible for Nazi propaganda. After the annexation of Austria and the destruction of Czechoslovakia, the Minister of Propaganda is tasked by the Führer with psychologically preparing the Germans for the imminent war. Joseph Goebbels also pursues the Nazi regime’s second ideological objective by organizing the Kristallnacht pogrom and radical agitation against Germany’s Jewish fellow citizens. In 1940, he commissions director Fritz Hippler to produce the antisemitic pseudo-documentary The Eternal Jew. In 1943, when it becomes clear that Germany will lose the war, Joseph Goebbels organizes a huge rally at the Berlin Sports Palace, where he delivers the Sportpalast speech, promising total war.
