A documentary observes life in Wacken as its small-town residents navigate the annual arrival of a vast metal festival.
The story
In Wacken, a small town with only 1,800 residents, around 85,000 fans from across the world arrive each year for an open-air metal festival. The documentary follows local people through their everyday routines and considers how they experience the festival period, including the ways some residents participate in it. Framed as a Heimatfilm, it contrasts ordinary village life with the extraordinary influx of festivalgoers, while keeping its focus on the people who live there.
