Full plot (contains spoilers)
Retired alarm-systems expert Robert Frank is traveling to Venice with his daughter Claudia, a journalist, to attend a glass-art exhibition organized by his ex-wife Louise Berengo with the help of her prominent politician husband. The most important piece on display is a magnificent goblet (hence the film’s Italian title) that belonged to Andrea Doria and which, according to legend, would cause the city to sink into the sea if it were broken. During the opening, the goblet is stolen, and Robert and Claudia try to track down those responsible for the theft. During their investigation, they strike up a friendship with Mia, a restaurant owner, her son Marco, and her little grandson Luca. They thus manage to resolve the matter without alerting the police or the public.
