Full plot (contains spoilers)
In April 1945, Sergeant Don "Wardaddy" Collier leads the crew of the tank Fury through the final weeks of World War II. After the death of a crew member, they take on Norman Ellison, a former typist. The crew's friction with the inexperienced Norman peaks when he fails to act against an ambush, leading Don to force him to execute a prisoner. After a harrowing encounter with German civilians, the unit is ordered to hold a vital crossroads. They are ambushed by a German Tiger I, and Fury becomes immobilized. The crew decides to stay and fight a desperate last stand against an approaching Waffen-SS battalion. During the siege, several members are killed, and the tank is eventually abandoned. Norman survives by hiding under the tank as grenades are dropped, and he is later rescued by American forces, having survived the carnage of the final stand.
