Full plot (contains spoilers)

The episodic film depicts the fates of several people who are more or less connected to FC St. Pauli’s fan scene. The three friends Magnus, Kowalski, and Arne belong to the fan scene and stick together despite their different social backgrounds. Their shared passion is the club. Outside the stadium, they get involved in fights with Nazis. In one of these fights, they defeat a group of Nazis and film their humiliating defeat. Shortly before kickoff in an important match that could see St. Pauli promoted to the Bundesliga’s first division, Kowalski, who works at a scrapyard, comes under the scrutiny of investigators. Magnus’s relationship with the attractive Natascha is seriously strained by his football fanaticism. She is an estate agent and suffers under her ruthless boss, who wants to push forward the gentrification of St. Pauli. At the end of the film, St. Pauli is promoted, and Arne is beaten by police officers. One of the officers hits Arne so hard that, in a later shot, he is lying motionless on the ground. It remains unclear whether Arne was killed by the blows or was “only” seriously injured. Meanwhile, Kowalski is arrested in the stadium by plainclothes police officers and then driven away in a police vehicle. The kindly Baldu’s kiosk is deliberately set on fire by the police.
