Full plot (contains spoilers)

Somewhere in the remotest part of the Austrian countryside. Far from everything, Johann, the Lion Inn keeper in the Alps, has a few worries. In his small mountain hometown, he has turned his modest snack bar into a chic hotel, hoping to attract more tourists and make more money. Even so, the guests stay away. Instead, the tax authorities begin wondering how he financed the expensive renovation. In desperation, he contacts his niece Eva in Salzburg, a tax consultant, hoping she can get him out of trouble. Eva immediately sets off to visit her uncle in Tyrol, and on the journey she meets Betsy, an American millionaire’s daughter about the same age who looks very much like her. The adventurous Betsy would love to take a vacation from being herself, so the two young women switch roles—which naturally leads to all sorts of confusion … and also to several demonstrations of the Alpine custom of “window courting.” At any rate, the capable American, who pitches in on the spot, manages to turn the Lion Inn keeper’s dream into a profitable reality. Before long, not only has the village made a name for itself as a spa resort, but guests are also flocking to Johann’s establishment. In the film’s happy ending, both women also find their respective prospective husbands: one gets the new spa director, and the other the head of the spa orchestra.
