A satellite designer must race to stop a global cataclysm caused by malfunctioning climate-controlling technology.
The story
In 2019, an international coalition commissions 'Dutch Boy', a system of climate-controlling satellites to combat catastrophic natural disasters. After the system neutralizes a typhoon in Shanghai, chief architect Jake Lawson is reprimanded and replaced by his brother Max. Three years later, an engineer's death leads Max to convince Jake to investigate the International Climate Space Station (ICSS). Upon arrival, Jake discovers the satellites have been damaged and a virus has been introduced into the system. The virus causes malfunctions that threaten to trigger a global cataclysm known as a 'geostorm,' forcing the team to find a way to reboot the system.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 2019, the 'Dutch Boy' satellite system is commissioned to manage climate disasters. After a reprimand, Jake Lawson is replaced by his brother Max. Following the suspicious death of an engineer, Max convinces Jake to go to the ICSS. Jake finds the satellites damaged by a robotic arm and a virus introduced into the system. The virus causes global malfunctions, and Jake realizes they need a kill code held by President Andrew Palma to reboot the system. Meanwhile, a scientist named Cheng Long is killed by rogue agents after identifying the threat as 'Project Zeus.' Max and his girlfriend Sarah Wilson kidnap Palma to get the kill code. They discover that Secretary of State Leonard Dekkom is the saboteur, seeking global power. Duncan Taylor is revealed as the traitor who worked for Dekkom. While Jake and Ute Fassbinder remain at the ICSS to reboot the system and remove the virus, Max and Sarah escort Palma to the Kennedy Space Center to transmit the code. Although the self-destruct sequence cannot be stopped, they escape a satellite. Six months later, Jake is the head engineer of the rebuilt Dutch Boy system.
