Full plot (contains spoilers)
Following the Summerville incident, Callie Spengler and her family move to New York City to help Winston Zeddemore and Ray Stantz re-establish the Ghostbusters. While the team faces political pressure from Mayor Walter Peck, they encounter a mysterious brass orb. The orb was created by the Firemasters to imprison Garraka, a demigod who can freeze living creatures. When the orb's containment is breached, a 'Possessor' ghost escapes. Simultaneously, a young girl named Phoebe befriends Melody, a ghost of a teenager. Melody is secretly working with Garraka, who uses Phoebe's spirit to perform a ritual to escape his prison. After Garraka escapes and begins terrorizing the city, the Ghostbusters—including veterans like Peter Venkman and Janine Melnitz—must team up with the new generation and a man named Nadeem, who uses Firemaster armor. In the final confrontation, Phoebe uses a brass-enhanced proton pack to fight Garraka. Melody ultimately finds redemption and joins her family in the afterlife, while the city is saved and the Ghostbusters are hailed as heroes.
