Giacomo Puccini is regarded as the last great composer of Italian opera. He was a Casanova and a womanizer. This is reflected in his artistic repertoire: he imagined idealized images of women, as in La Bohème, Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Turandot, La fanciulla del West, and Il trittico. The film examines this in detail and also shows that, despite his success, Puccini often felt lonely.
