The story
Superhuman David Dunn, known as the Overseer, and his son Joseph track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a man with multiple personalities known as the Horde, to an abandoned factory near Philadelphia. After David rescues several hostages from Kevin, both men are captured by Dr. Ellie Staple and taken to the Raven Hill Memorial Psychiatric Hospital. There, they are detained alongside Elijah Price, a man who believes in the existence of superhumans. The three men are held in separate rooms, where Dr. Staple attempts to prove that their perceived superpowers are merely delusions of grandeur.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After being captured and held at Raven Hill Memorial Psychiatric Hospital, David Dunn (the Overseer), Kevin Wendell Crumb (the Horde), and Elijah Price (Mr. Glass) are subjected to evaluations by Dr. Ellie Staple. While Ellie attempts to prove their powers are delusions, Elijah secretly coordinates an escape plan. He manipulates David and Kevin into breaking out of their confinement. The trio escapes and heads toward a skyscraper in Philadelphia. During a chaotic confrontation in the parking lot, the truth of their abilities and the circumstances of their lives are revealed. Elijah is ultimately mortally wounded by one of Kevin's personalities, the Beast, after a realization about the past. Kevin is later killed by a sniper. In the aftermath, Dr. Staple believes she has successfully suppressed the superhumans, but she discovers that Elijah had live-streamed the entire confrontation to a private website. This broadcast exposes the existence of superhumans to the public, leaving her organization's efforts to keep them hidden in failure.
