Full plot (contains spoilers)
Indy, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, moves with his owner Todd to a rural home in the woods. Todd suffers from a chronic lung disease, and his sister, Vera, fears the house is haunted. Indy senses a dark, skeletal figure and encounters a ghost of a dog named Bandit. While Todd's health fails and he becomes aggressive, Indy faces the entity. One night, the entity separates the two of them. Indy escapes a fox snare and finds Bandit's skeleton in the cellar. In the bedroom, the entity approaches Todd. Indy reaches him just as Todd realizes he has died and is dragged into a dark tunnel. The next morning, Vera finds Todd's body and Indy alone at the cellar entrance. The film ends with Indy in a car with Vera, hearing a ghostly whistle from the tunnel.
