A secret mission to rescue hostages from a hijacked plane leads to a complex web of deception and bureaucratic maneuvering.
The story
In 1970, Japanese Ride Flight 351 is hijacked by armed members of Japan's Red Army Faction. The hijackers demand to be flown to Pyongyang to form a revolutionary army. While the aircraft is permitted to land at Itazuke to refuel, the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) initiates a secret mission. A fixer known as "Nobody" and a ROK Air Force officer work together to trick the hijackers into landing in Seoul. They must navigate a high-stakes game of deception, disguising the local airport as a North Korean site to ensure the safety of the 106 Japanese hostages while navigating the political tensions of the era.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1970, Japanese Ride Flight 351 is hijacked by members of the Red Army Faction who demand to be flown to Pyongyang. After a refueling stop at Itazuke, the plane is allowed to proceed with 106 hostages. The KCIA's "Nobody," a skilled fixer, and Lieutenant Seo Go-myung orchestrate a plan to trick the hijackers into landing at Gimpo International Airport, which is disguised as a North Korean site. During the standoff, the hijackers become suspicious of the environment, and Seo must negotiate with them while managing their volatile behavior. To secure a deal for the hostages' release, Nobody creates a fake news report about a hostage of Korean descent to spark public outcry. Ultimately, a Japanese official is offered as a swap for the passengers. After the swap, it is revealed that the hijackers' weapons were fake. The South Korean government covers up the event, making it appear as though the plane landed at Gimpo by mistake, while "Nobody" is rewarded with citizenship and a new identity.
