A desperate man attempts to rescue his brother from a high-stakes situation following a botched bank robbery.

The story

In New York City, Nick Nikas is undergoing a court-ordered therapy session to determine his cognitive impairment when his brother, Connie, pulls him out. The brothers subsequently rob a bank, but a dye pack explodes, causing their getaway driver to crash and forcing them to flee on foot. While Connie manages to escape, Nick is apprehended and sent to Rikers Island. That night, Connie attempts to secure a bail bond to free his brother, navigating a series of escalating complications as he tries to navigate the city's underworld and legal hurdles to get Nick out of custody.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After a botched bank robbery leaves Nick in Rikers Island and Connie on the run, Connie attempts to secure a bail bond using his girlfriend's credit card. He eventually finds Nick in a hospital and moves him onto a bus, where he mistakenly believes he has rescued Nick but instead takes a drug dealer named Ray. Ray recounts a story about a stash of LSD and stolen money hidden in an amusement park. The duo travels to Adventureland, where they encounter a security guard. After a confrontation, Connie takes the guard's uniform to evade police, while Ray tricks the officers into thinking the guard is the intruder. They later travel to the guard's apartment to find the stash. During a tense standoff with a contact named Caliph, Ray and Connie argue over the drugs. Ray eventually falls to his death while Connie is being apprehended by police. In a final scene, Nick is shown in a facility where a therapist tells him that Connie did the 'right thing' and that he will have a 'good time' as he begins to participate in a group activity.
