Hades - Eine (fast) wahre Geschichte aus der Unterwelt (2023)

When Reza flees to Vienna with his mother and brother as a ten-year-old boy and has to live in rather precarious circumstances, he soon realizes that anyone who doesn’t want to go under needs self-confidence and a quick wit—and has to dish out a few hard slaps now and then. That’s how he holds his own against the junior gangsters in the park, and how he gets his first bicycle because his mother doesn’t have enough money to buy him one. A few years later, as an adult, Reza becomes a professional fighter again, as well as a professional gangster working for underworld boss Milan, and begins a lucrative double life. Together with his pals Mo and Dragan, he makes a name for himself in the underworld: eliminating rivals, collecting money, and beating people up. Brutal but clever, he conquers Vienna’s criminal underworld. Despite all his toughness, Reza retains a big heart and a small conscience about what he does. But that very heart becomes his undoing when he falls in love with Beatrice and begins planning a future together with her. He starts to wonder whether he can keep doing his “job” forever. What he doesn’t realize, however, is that the police, in the form of SOKO Hades, led by seasoned Inspector Czermak, who has known Reza since childhood and actually likes him, have long been on the trail of the gang—and therefore of Reza as well.
