In 1990, ten-year-old Michael Myers murders his family and peers in Haddonfield, Illinois, before being committed to Smith's Grove Sanitarium. During his incarceration, he becomes increasingly detached from reality. Fifteen years later, Michael escapes the sanitarium, kills the staff, and returns to Haddonfield. On Halloween night, he targets several teenagers, including Laurie Strode, who is his biological sister. Dr. Samuel Loomis, who previously treated Michael, tracks him to the town. A violent chase ensues as Laurie and her friends are hunted by Michael. Loomis and the local sheriff eventually intervene. In the final confrontation at Michael's childhood home, Loomis manages to wound Michael, but he is eventually subdued by the stalker.
