The story
The film begins on the same night where the previous film ended, with the presence of Michael Myers becoming apparent to the residents of Haddonfield. Following a series of attacks, a group of survivors and a mob of vengeful residents, including Tommy Doyle, form a group to hunt down and kill the masked killer. Meanwhile, Laurie Strode is hospitalized following an injury. As the community is warned to stay inside, the tension rises as the survivors attempt to track Michael's movements toward his childhood home while navigating the threat he poses to the town.

On Halloween night in 2018, Frank Hawkins is found by Cameron Elam after being left for dead. In a flashback to 40 years prior, Hawkins had previously survived an encounter with Michael Myers. In the present, survivors Tommy Doyle, Marion Chambers, Lindsey Wallace, and Lonnie Elam gather at a bar to mark the anniversary of Michael's capture. Simultaneously, Laurie Strode is hospitalized after her home is attacked. Tommy forms a mob to hunt Michael, while Allyson Nelson joins the hunt to avenge her father. The group tracks Michael toward his childhood home. During the hunt, a convict named Lance Tivoli is mistaken for Michael and dies. At the Myers house, Lonnie is killed, and Allyson and Cameron are attacked; Cameron is killed. Karen Nelson, Laurie's daughter, stabs Michael and leads him into the mob. When the mob lowers their guard, Michael awakens and massacres them. Finally, Karen is killed by Michael in his childhood home while Laurie watches from her hospital room.
