A group of college students win a competition to spend a night in a haunted house for an internet reality show, only to find themselves hunted by a real-life serial killer.

The story

Three years after the murders at Hillcrest Academy, a guilt-ridden Laurie Strode is institutionalized in a sanitarium. Anticipating her brother's return, she sets a trap on the roof, but Michael Myers kills her. A year later, college students win a competition to appear on an Internet reality show called Dangertainment. They are tasked with spending a night in Michael's abandoned childhood house to discover his past. However, while setting up cameras, they realize the show is a setup and are hunted by the real Michael Myers, who has returned to Haddonfield.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Three years after the murders at Hillcrest Academy, a guilt-ridden Laurie Strode is institutionalized in Grace Andersen Sanitarium. She sets a trap on the roof for her brother, Michael Myers, but when she tries to confirm his identity by removing his mask, he stabs and throws her to her death. A year later, college students Sara Moyer, Bill Woodlake, Donna Chang, Jen Danzig, Jim Morgan, and Rudy Grimes win a competition to appear on an Internet reality show called Dangertainment. They are to spend a night in Michael's abandoned childhood house. While setting up, cameraman Charlie is killed by Michael. On Halloween night, the students enter the house and separate into groups. Michael kills Bill, then Donna and Jim. It is revealed the show is a setup. Freddie Harris, dressed as Michael to scare the students, meets the real Michael and mistakes him for Charlie. Freddie reveals the scheme to Sara, Rudy, and Jim. Michael then decapitates Jen and kills Jim and Rudy. Sara hides in a bedroom and messages Myles 'Deckard' Barton, who watches the live broadcast and sends her Michael's locations. Michael kills Freddie, but a still-living Freddie fights him as an electrical fire starts in the garage. Freddie electrocutes Michael and carries Sara to safety. Michael is presumed dead but awakens in the morgue. In an alternate ending, Sara kills Michael with an axe.
