The story
Miley Stewart, a popular teen who leads a double life as the pop superstar Hannah Montana, finds her secret identity threatened by an unscrupulous tabloid reporter. After a public altercation leads to the reporter recording her, Miley's father convinces her to take a trip to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee. The goal is for Miley to get some perspective on what matters most in life away from her celebrity persona. However, the pressure of her fame continues to loom as she struggles to balance her responsibilities to her family and friends with her demanding career as a global icon.

Miley Stewart and her best friend Lilly Truscott attend a concert where Miley performs as her secret alter ego, Hannah Montana. After filming a music video, Miley is confronted by tabloid reporter Oswald Granger, who records her alluding to her secret. When a fight with Tyra Banks over shoes makes headlines, Miley's father, Robby, sends her to Crowley Corners, Tennessee, for two weeks to spend her grandmother Ruby's birthday. Miley initially resists, wanting to remain Hannah, but eventually reconnects with small-town life and her childhood friend Travis Brody. Meanwhile, Oswald continues to hunt for the truth. During a town fundraiser, Miley performs as herself, and Travis suggests she ask Hannah to hold a concert. Lilly arrives disguised as Hannah to mislead Oswald. Miley eventually overhears Robby rejecting a local woman, Lorelai, to protect Miley's double life. Heartbroken, Miley decides she wants to end her double life. At a final concert, she removes her wig and reveals her true identity to the crowd, announcing she can no longer live a lie. Oswald decides not to publish the story after his daughters express admiration for Hannah. Miley reconciles with Travis and finishes the concert as herself.
