The story
Berlin twins Hanni and Nanni are sent to spend the remainder of the school year at Lindenhof, a countryside boarding school, while their parents are having marital difficulties. With their mother away for work and their father caring for them, the girls try to avoid a long stay by planning pranks on the headmistress. Their plans diverge as Nanni makes friends at the riding club, while Hanni remains determined to get expelled. The sisters’ different priorities create a rift between them, setting up a conflict over their relationship and their new school.

The twins Hanni and Nanni, who live in Berlin, are to spend the rest of the school year in the countryside at the Lindenhof boarding school. Their parents’ marriage is going through a rough patch. Their mother, Susanne, is away for work and does not want chaos to break out while their father, Charlie, is looking after the girls. To avoid having to stay at the boarding school for long, the twins plan to play as many pranks as possible on the headmistress. But Nanni finds new friends at the riding club, while Hanni still wants to get expelled from the boarding school. Their different interests lead to a falling-out between them. But when the boarding school is threatened with being sold, Hanni and Nanni pull together again to save it.
