Full plot (contains spoilers)
After a successful career and a tragic accident in 2014 that killed his wife, Happy Gilmore became an alcoholic and quit golf. In the present, he works at a supermarket with his children. To fund his daughter Vienna's ballet education in Paris, he returns to the tour. He faces a new league, Maxi Golf, led by Frank Manatee, which uses 'extreme' methods. Happy joins a match against Maxi Golf's best players. During the competition, he faces his old rival, Shooter McGavin, who has been released from a mental facility. After a series of matches and a final tie-breaker where Frank tries to force Happy into joining Maxi Golf, Happy wins the match and secures his daughter's future. He is eventually cleared of his legal troubles, and the fraudulent Maxi Energy Drink is shut down. The film ends with Happy's family heading to Paris while he prepares for the British Open.
