A group of individuals must work together to exorcise the ghosts of a mansion they have recently moved into.
The story
In New Orleans, a widow and her son move into the abandoned Gracey Manor to turn it into a bed and breakfast, only to discover the property is infested with ghosts. To combat the hauntings, they enlist the help of an unlikely group: an astrophysicist-turned-tour guide, a psychic, a con man posing as a priest, and a college historian. The group must navigate the eerie atmosphere of the mansion to find a way to clear the spirits and secure their new home.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After his wife's death, Ben Matthias, an astrophysicist, becomes a tour guide in New Orleans. When Gabbie and her son Travis move into the haunted Gracey Manor, they hire Ben, a psychic named Harriet, a con man named Father Kent, and a historian named Bruce Davis to deal with the ghosts. The group discovers a hidden séance room and a crystal ball containing the spirit of Madame Leota. They learn that a malevolent entity, Alistair Crump, trapped Leota and other spirits in the mansion after a series of tragic events. The group eventually discovers that Kent is a con man and that Crump is attempting to claim Travis as his final soul. In a final confrontation in the mansion's graveyard, the group works together to perform a banishment ritual. They successfully send Crump to the netherworld, free Leota, and bring the mansion's ghosts into harmony with the living residents. The film ends with the characters moving on with their lives, and the ghosts remaining at the mansion.
