After a handbag theft brings a young woman into a Dior sewing workshop, an exacting head seamstress takes her on as an intern.

Esther (Nathalie Baye), head seamstress at Dior, has her handbag snatched on the subway by Jade (Lyna Khoudri). But, overcome with remorse, Jade brings it back to her. Esther immediately sees that Jade has gifted hands, made for sewing and embroidery, and takes her on as an intern. Neither of them has an easy temperament or an easy life; clashes and misunderstandings are frequent. Haute couture work is demanding, and the workshop is rife with rivalries and jealousy. But little by little, Jade comes to enjoy it, learns to create beauty, and Esther grows gentler.
