Two coworkers are mistaken for a couple by a serial killer who targets couples on Valentine's Day.

The story

On Valentine's Day, a serial killer known as the Heart Eyes Killer (HEK) has been targeting couples across various American cities. Ally McCabe, a marketing professional who recently went through a breakup, is tasked with creating a new campaign after her previous pitch is deemed inappropriate. She begins working with a freelancer named Jay Simmonds. After a tense evening at a restaurant leads to a moment of shared vulnerability, the two find themselves in a situation where they must navigate the dangers of the holiday. When the Heart Eyes Killer strikes, the pair must survive the night and navigate the confusion of being targeted by a killer who believes they are a romantic pair.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Ally McCabe and Jay Simmonds are coworkers who are mistaken for a couple by the Heart Eyes Killer (HEK), a serial killer targeting couples on Valentine's Day. After a night of tension and a shared moment of vulnerability, they are attacked by the killer. Jay is captured and detained by police, who believe he is the killer due to his proximity to crime scenes and a matching ring. Ally is eventually reunited with Jay at a drive-in movie theater where they fight off the killer's henchmen. They eventually unmask the killer, only to find out the primary culprits are David and Jeanine Shaw, a married couple who share a fetish for killing. In a final confrontation at a chapel, Ally and Jay face the couple. Ally manages to defeat the villains, and the film ends with a year later jump where the pair is still together and planning their future.
