Full plot (contains spoilers)
As in “Helga – From the Making of Human Life,” this film is also structured as a combination of documentary and feature film, and here, too, questions of sexuality and partnership are at the center of the story. How can a man and a woman find one another if they have not yet found themselves and have not really defined and articulated their own needs? The “model” couple, Helga and Michael, have a child together, and the question arises of sensible family planning, as well as how each partner defines themselves in their new roles. The development of the baby in Helga and Michael’s young marriage is also sketched in the context of a modern society that is constantly changing. In the documentary section, the young couple’s marital bliss is contrasted with young couples facing problems who seek help through marriage counseling. The events shown are to be given a scientific underpinning through excerpts from the reports of sex researchers Kinsey and Master/Johnson.
